The Smaller Gospel — How the Church Undersold the Greatest News in History

The word “gospel” means good news.

But somewhere over the centuries the church quietly edited it down to something closer to moderately reassuring news for people who behave themselves!

Here is what the smaller gospel typically looks like:

  • You are a sinner.
  • Jesus died for your sins.
  • If you believe and say the right prayer, you go to heaven when you die.
  • Until then, try not to sin too much.

But that concept is woefully skewed… and even worse, it’s catastrophically incomplete. It’s like being handed the deed to an entire continent and being told you’ve won a weekend caravan stay.

What Got Left Out:

The KINGDOM IS NOW, Not Only Later
Jesus did not primarily preach “believe in me and go to heaven.” He preached the Kingdom of God — Matthew 4:23, Mark 1:14-15. The Kingdom is a present reality that begins inside you at conversion — Romans 14:17 describes it as “righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” — not a future destination you wait passively to enter.
Paul in Colossians 1:13 says God “has already delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.” Past tense. Already done. The smaller gospel puts this entirely in the future and leaves people sitting in a waiting room that God never intended.

TRANSFORMATION, Not Just Forgiveness
The smaller gospel emphasises what you are saved from — sin, hell, judgment. The full gospel emphasises what you are saved into — the very family and likeness of God! Romans 8:29, 2 Corinthians 3:18, and 1 John 3:2 all point to an ongoing transformation into the image of Christ that begins now and culminates in resurrection.
Forgiveness is the doorway. Transformation is the house. The smaller gospel hands people a doorway and calls it a home.

EMPOWERMENT, Not Just Endurance
The smaller gospel produces people who are enduring life until heaven arrives. The full gospel produces people who are overcoming — actively, powerfully, with the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead living in them. Romans 8:11, Luke 24:49, Acts 1:8.
The difference in practice is enormous. One produces passive, survival-mode Christianity. The other produces what Jesus described — works greater than his own. John 14:12. Most Christians have never been told that verse applies to them.

PURPOSE, Not Just Morality
The smaller gospel reduces the Christian life to a moral improvement project — stop sinning, attend church, be a decent person. The full gospel reveals a cosmic purpose — you are being prepared to co-reign with Christ over a restored universe. Revelation 3:21, Romans 8:19, 1 Corinthians 6:2-3.
Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:3 that believers will judge angels. That is an almost shocking statement that sits completely ignored in most Sunday sermons because it doesn’t fit the smaller gospel framework where the highest aspiration is simply to make it through the pearly gates.

RELATIONSHIP, Not Just Transaction

The smaller gospel is essentially transactional — you do your part, God does his, the contract is signed, the afterlife is secured. The full gospel is relational — God literally wants to be your Father in the way John 1:12-13 and Romans 8:15-16 describe, with the intimacy of a child crying “Abba” — the Aramaic equivalent of “Daddy.”
The transactional version produces religious consumers. The relational version produces sons and daughters.

Why Did This Happen?

For several reasons, including:

Reaction to works-based salvation — in emphasising that salvation is by grace through faith alone, Reformers sometimes overcorrected.

Platonic influence — Greek philosophy seeped into church theology, making heaven a purely spiritual escape.

Institutional convenience — a gospel that keeps people passive, dependent on clergy, and focused on afterlife rather than present transformation is frankly easier to manage institutionally.

Fear of excess — the wider church has pulled back from the full picture of empowerment and transformation instead of correcting excesses carefully.

But the main underlying reason that the full gospel has been lost is that Satan the devil (who does exist) has deceived the whole world, as 2 Cor4:4 points out. The devil’s goal is to counterfeit, corrupt, and control the narrative. And the world has fallen for it!

The Cost of the Smaller Gospel:

People leave the church in their millions not because the gospel failed them but because the smaller gospel did. It promised just enough to get them in the door and not enough to keep them when life got genuinely hard.

A faith built on “believe this and go to heaven” has no answer for suffering, no framework for purpose, no power for transformation, and no vision large enough to sustain a human life. When the pain comes — and it comes — there is nothing to hold onto.

The full gospel has answers to all of it. Which is why it was called good news in the first place.

When Religion Replaces Relationship — Traditions That Shrink the Gospel Further

Beyond the smaller gospel, certain religious traditions have added layers that don’t merely reduce the good news but actively redirect people away from the direct relationship God offers. Prove this for yourself by checking each wrong church teaching against the following Scriptures that refute them!

1. Confessing Sins to a Human Intermediary

The smaller gospel tends to lead people away from God — teaching that sins must be confessed to and absolved by an ordained human representative before forgiveness is accessible.

But Scripture is unambiguous. 1 Timothy 2:5 states plainly: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.” One mediator. Not one mediator plus a human representative.

1 John 1:9 says: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.” The “he” is God directly. No human intermediary is mentioned or implied.

Hebrews 4:16 invites believers to “come boldly to the throne of grace” — not to an earthly office. The entire book of Hebrews was written to demonstrate that Christ’s priesthood replaced and fulfilled the Levitical priesthood permanently. Adding another human priest after Christ is not a supplement to his work — it is an unconscious denial of its completeness.

2. Repetitive Scripted Prayer

Some traditions teach the practice of repeating specific prayers a prescribed number of times using beads or similar counting devices as a form of spiritual merit or intercession.

Jesus addressed this directly and surprisingly bluntly in Matthew 6:7: “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”

The context is striking — Jesus says this immediately before teaching what we call the Lord’s Prayer, which was given as a pattern for prayer, not a script for repetition. The very prayer most commonly repeated mechanically was never intended to be repeated mechanically.

Genuine prayer in Scripture is consistently conversational, honest, spontaneous and relational — from Abraham negotiating over Sodom, to David’s raw complaints in the Psalms, to Jesus in Gethsemane. None of it resembles a prescribed formula repeated a fixed number of times.

3. Elevating Human Tradition to Equal Authority With Scripture

Some traditions teach that church tradition carries equal or sometimes greater authority than written Scripture in determining doctrine and practice.

But Jesus himself rebuked this tendency directly in Mark 7:8-9: “You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions… You skillfully sidestep the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions.”

Paul warned in Colossians 2:8: “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and going after the theories of the world, and not after Christ.”

The Bereans in Acts 17:11 were specifically commended for checking everything — including apostolic teaching — against Scripture. That standard applies equally to every tradition regardless of its age or institutional authority.

4. Venerating and Praying to Deceased Saints

Some traditions teach that deceased holy figures can intercede on behalf of the living, and encourage directing prayers toward them as intermediaries.

Scripture addresses the dead consistently and clearly. Ecclesiastes 9:5 states the dead know nothing. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 explicitly forbids attempting communication with the dead as an abomination. Isaiah 8:19 asks pointedly: “Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?”

More fundamentally, the role being assigned to deceased saints in this framework belongs exclusively to Christ. Hebrews 7:25 says Jesus “always lives to make intercession” for believers. Romans 8:34 confirms Christ alone sits at God’s right hand interceding. There is no biblical vacancy requiring additional intercessors.

5. The Worship of Physical Images and Statues

The second commandment in Exodus 20:4-5 is explicit: “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them.”

Some traditions have addressed this awkwardly by merging the first and second commandments into one and splitting the tenth commandment into two — effectively removing the image prohibition from their version of the ten commandments while maintaining the count at ten.

The distinction drawn — claiming that bowing before a statue or even a picture is veneration rather than worship, is not found anywhere in Scripture. The commandment addresses the physical posture and practice regardless of any internal intention behind it.

6. A Human Head of the Universal Church

Some traditions vest supreme spiritual authority over all Christians globally in a single human office, claiming that authority derives in an unbroken line from the apostles.

But Scripture assigns that headship exclusively and permanently to Christ. Ephesians 1:22-23 says God “appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body.” Colossians 1:18 reinforces: “He is the head of the body, the church.”

Peter himself — the apostle most commonly cited as the foundation for this claim — wrote in 1 Peter 5:1-4 as a “fellow elder” among equals, and described Christ as “the Chief Shepherd” to whom all undershepherds are accountable. He claimed NO supreme authority for himself and certainly did not claim to transfer it to successors.

7. Salvation Through Sacraments and Works

Some traditions teach that salvation is mediated through specific physical sacraments administered by ordained clergy — that without these rites properly performed, salvation itself is uncertain or unavailable.

But Ephesians 2:8-9 could not be clearer: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Baptism, communion, and other practices are responses to salvation and expressions of faith — they are not the mechanism of salvation itself. Confusing the sign with the thing signified is a consistent and serious biblical error. The thief on the cross received Christ’s personal guarantee of paradise having performed no sacrament whatsoever — Luke 23:43.

8. Purgatory — A Place Scripture Never Mentions

Some traditions teach an intermediate state of purifying suffering after death through which most souls must pass before entering heaven, and that the prayers and financial contributions of the living can shorten this process.

The Bible presents two destinations — not three. John chapter 11 is the account of Jesus raising Lazarus up four days after he died. There was no calling Lazarus back from either purgatory or heaven. Jesus said in John 11: 11-14 that while Lazarus was dead he was sleeping. Hebrews 9:27 states plainly: “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.”

The Common Thread:

Most of these traditions share the same underlying problem — they insert something between the believer and direct access to God. A human mediator. A prescribed formula. An institutional authority. A physical rite.

But when you have a dependant relationship with God you will trust him to save you, and won’t be concerned, wondering if your salvation hangs in the balance because you may not be good enough. (See Romans 8:1)

Your motivation can predominately be based on love, not fear, stress, or worry.

When the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom at the moment of Christ’s death (Matt 27:51) it was not incidental. It was God himself declaring that the era of mediated, institutional, distance-maintaining religion was finished.

The way is open. The invitation is direct. The mediator is one, and he is alive and interceding right now.

Anything that obscures that direct access, however ancient or well-intentioned, works against the very gospel it claims to serve.

THE TRUE GOSPEL

The true gospel is that God has done everything necessary to set us free from the devils captivity, and it includes the plan of salvation, showing how God will help us achieve our fullest potential. John 14:6 shows how. Set free from deception, our future is far greater than we can imagine. But, in order to build on a sure foundation, why not start at the beginning…

Light From Within or Light From Above? – Going Beyond the New Age Movement

The following article is about the difference between New Age thought and Christianity.

Towards the end of the article I’ll show you how to have more power than any New Ager, any witch, or any other non-Christian, or non-believer who opposes you!

What the New Age offers

The New Age movement is said to offer opportunity for spiritual consciousness and continual growth and transformation. This sounds a bit vague. I think, in real terms, most people are looking to the New Age for happiness, power, status and prestige, love, prosperity, and success. And yes, the New Age movement claims you can have it!

I’m going to call all this ‘glory,’ even though that’s an old fashioned term which is hardly used today. I’m calling it that because the Bible often uses the word.

The word glory appears more than 400 times in Scripture — a recurring theme that reveals God’s desire to lift His people from humble beginnings to eternal purpose.

In this world, the majority of people walk around without feeling much glory in their life! Although they may seek it, perhaps in the form of money or status, for the most part, real instances of glory remain elusive.

But the Bible promises that the spiritual body of Christ will one day share in His glory and rule with Him (Revelation 1:6; 5:10).

From Least to Greatest: The Biblical Pattern

The Bible shows that there is a battle between God’s ways of love, freedom and truth versus Satan’s principles of fear, pride, greed and deceit.

There is a spiritual battle going on. The god of the occult is big into materialism. But worshipping this god leaves people struggling, miserable, dissatisfied and empty.

God has a better plan!

Throughout Scripture, God raises His people from weakness to glory.

  • David was a shepherd boy and then an outcast before becoming a king.
  • Gideon was the least in his family, yet God made him a mighty deliverer.
  • Joseph went from a pit (Genesis 37:24) to a prison (Genesis 39:20) — and finally to a place of honor and glory in Egypt: “And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt…” — Genesis 45:13

God wrote this plot in advance (Gen 37:5). God was with Joseph in the pit and through the years in prison, directing the storyline all the way!

“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good…” — Genesis 50:19-20

The New Age’s Counterfeit Light

Like Christianity, the New Age movement speaks of light, transformation, and awakening — but it redefines the source.
It teaches that divinity lies within, that humanity can ascend to godhood through self-realization and positive energy.

It’s the same ancient deception whispered in Eden:

“You shall be as gods.” — Genesis 3:5

God does invite us into His family (John 1:12), but not through self-exaltation. The difference is profound:

  • The New Age glorifies the self.
  • Christianity glorifies the Creator.

In New Age thought, glory is found by looking inward and attempting to change our vibration.
In the Bible, glory comes from above — it’s given as an amazing, divine gift from God when we align with his teachings on how to live according to his will. It doesn’t come through self reliance, or vibrating a certain way so we can just attract success without being in harmony with God’s other laws.

God’s Promise to the Body of Christ

The Bible reveals that believers form a single spiritual body — the Body of Christ — destined to share in His Kingdom and glory.

“[He] has made us kings and priests unto God… and we shall reign on the earth.”
Revelation 1:6; 5:10

This glory isn’t a mere spark of self-awareness — it’s the presence of Christ living within:

“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” — Colossians 1:27

Glory Through Suffering

The path to true glory doesn’t bypass hardship. It passes through it.

“In bringing many sons unto glory, [God made] the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”
Hebrews 2:10

Just as Joseph, David, and even Jesus were refined through suffering, so too are believers shaped through trials. The journey from pit to palace begins in humility and seeking to obey God, and ends in resurrection.

The Nations and the Coming Kingdom

God’s glory isn’t limited to individuals — it will encompass entire nations:

“The nations… shall walk in the light of it… and they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.”
Revelation 21:24–26

Every obedient nation and redeemed culture will reflect a facet of God’s beauty. The whole world will radiate with His light — far beyond any manmade enlightenment.

“As all of us reflect the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces, we are becoming more like Him with ever-increasing glory by the Lord’s Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 (ISV)

The Final Contrast

The New AgeThe Bible
“Find the light within yourself.”“I am the Light of the world.” — John 8:12
You ascend by self-effort.You are raised by obedience, then by Christ’s power. — John 14:15, 2 Tim 2:12
Glory is human potential.Glory is divine inheritance. — Romans 8:18
Truth is relative.Truth is a Person — Jesus Christ. — John 14:6

The True Glory Awaits

The New Age offers an attractive illusion — a fading glow of self-made light.
But the Gospel offers something infinitely greater: eternal glory with Christ.

What that means is finding happiness, power, honour, love, prosperity, and success within the framework of God’s blessings, rather than self-seeking or self-glorification coming from self-reliance.

“If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him.” — 2 Timothy 2:12

From pit to palace, from prison to praise, from dust to the throne — God’s story ends in triumph for those who walk in His light.

So the question is, will you follow the flicker of human enlightenment — or the eternal radiance of truth and light that comes with the authority of Jesus Christ?

How to Be Invincible

In the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy, kings of Israel were told they must write out the book of the law, and then read it every day of their life. Deut 17:18-19.

In the New Testament, Christians are told they are already king-priests in God’s kingdom! Revelation 1:6.

Therefore, if you become a Christian, as a Christian king, similar principles may apply for you.

It’s a spiritual law that by beholding we become changed. 2 Cor 3:18. Plus, as a man thinketh, so he is. Prov 23:7.

This is a secret Biblical law that helps you become invincible!

When you write out positive Scriptures in the first person daily, you thoughts and personality and your whole life changes for the better. If you set a time to actually DO this daily, preferably in the early morning, it will revolutionise your life.

Here’s an example. Joshua 1:5 says that no man could stand before Joshua all the days of his life. You can write this out in the first person and apply it to yourself. Why? Because God is no respector of persons (Acts 10:34)… so what applied to Joshua can also apply to you.

When you are obedient to God, and align your plans with God’s plans, you will succeed. Joshua 1:8.

Joshua is actually the same Hebrew name for the English name Jesus. Jesus dwells inside true Christians (Col 1:27, Gal 2:20). So if you are a genuine follower of Christ this Scripture can definitely apply to you also. So, get an exercise book or diary for the purpose of writing out Scripture in the first person, and write:

“There shall no man be able to stand before me all the days of my life. God will not fail me.” Joshua 1:5, Deut 31:6, Heb 13:5 !!!

Now find more positive Bible verses. Here’s another example. Write:

“Greater is he that is in me, than he that is in the world, because I have overcome the world!” 1 John 4:4 (also John 16:33).

There are endless possible verses that you can use this method with.

If some don’t seem to apply to you yet, all the better! Perhaps you read Romans 1:17, and write “I am the righteousness of Christ,” and then feel that it’s a stretch to write this, just remember Christ promised to live in his disciples (Gal 3:27), and said he would do whatever we asked from him. (John 14:13-14).

Take Bible verses from any book, and simply adapt them… “I live by every word of God, not by bread alone.” Luke 4:4

If you do this you are bound for glory, and you will become mentally invincible!

There are lots more videos about the Rattler….

…and, of course, the song!

You, Bruce Lee, & The Bible

Bruce Lee (1940-1973) was a Hong Kong-American martial artist, *actor, *filmmaker, and philosopher. (**Note: Although I’m saying favourable things about Bruce Lee here, this article is not meant to endorse his movies – I am NOT promoting martial arts, endorsing Hollywood movies, endorsing dragon symbolism, or Eastern religion! But I am promoting self-control and self-discipline, which Bruce Lee 100% excelled in.)

I’ve also seen conflicting accounts of Bruce Lee’s beliefs about God, and whether he was an athiest or not. But Bruce gave some interesting ‘Biblical like’ advice, and left some great quotes that we can learn quite a lot from.

For example, Bruce Lee said:
“As you think, so shall you become.”
“You think the fight begins when you step onto the mat; no, the real battle is fought long before that, in your mind. Before I ever threw a punch, before I ever kicked I had already won or lost in my head. The moment doubt enters, the battle is over.
That’s why I trained my mind as fiercely as I trained my body.”

This is very similar to Prov 23:7 KJV and it is key to self mastery.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

Bruce also said:
“If everyone would help their neighbor, then no one would be without help.”

This echoes a Biblical principle, with additional depth.
James 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.

Bruce Lee is most famous for saying:

BE LIKE WATER

The way I think about this is, when a person swims in a pool, the pool takes the shape of the person. After the person leaves the pool, the water returns to how it was before.

I don’t believe you should totally empty your mind to allow some demon to take over, but we do need to empty out the self will, as Christ did.

Luke 22:41- 42. And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Help with Anger Management

Bruce said “A quick temper will make a fool of you soon enough.”

Anger and frustration comes when we are contradicted, or attacked.

This is because we are too ridged in holding to our own shape, holding to our own rigid identity.

Christ gave us the solution in the Lord’s prayer.
“THY kingdom come, THY will be done.”

When we die to self, that is to self will, in a sense, OUR will is no longer done, we are easily counselled (James 3:17), and we follow Galatians 2:20.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

This is saying that we too can have Christ living in us!

Bruce Lee:

In order to taste my cup of water you must first empty your cup. My friend, drop all of your preconceived fixed ideas and be neutral. Do you know why this cup is so useful? Because it is empty.

Preconceived fixed ideas can be dangerous. Especially if not true. Behind every addiction is a lie that needs to be exposed and understood. In the past, because I wanted to put all my ducks in a row, I resisted being told what I didn’t want to accept, instead of behaving like water, and graciously welcoming other viewpoints.

But if we are dead IN CHRIST, then we need not feel we are being attacked, nor will we be upset that OUR rigid opinion is being contradicted, because we defer to God’s opinion, in preference to our own.

We can also be like water.

The Holy Spirit is like water.
When Christ is in us, through His Spirit, the water of His Words flows in our life.

Bruce Lee:

“Running water never grows stale. So you just have to keep on flowing.”

FOCUS

Bruce Lee said,

‎”THE SUCCESSFUL WARRIOR IS THE AVERAGE MAN, WITH LASER-LIKE FOCUS.”

“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

It’s said that Bruce practiced thousands of punches a day for decades.

The way I personally look at focus, it’s like slapping your hand on a wooden table. That does nothing. But holding the point of a nail to a wooden table, and then hammering it in, is like what Bruce did. It was real focus, and that always works!

“Do not have an attitude, open yourself and FOCUS yourself and express yourself. Reject external form that fails to express internal reality.”

“Bring the mind to a sharp FOCUS and make it alert so that it can immediately intuit truth, which is everywhere.”

Hmmn, – the Bible says, in John 17:17 Thy word is truth, but also:

Phi 3:13 KJV Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:
but this ONE THING I DO, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

FEAR and PROGRESS

Bruce Lee:

“Don’t fear failure. Not failure, but low aim is the crime. In great attempts, it is glorious even to fail.”

“Make at least one definite move daily toward your goal.”

I really like that.

Bible:

Phil 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Bruce Lee:

“If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.”

Bible:

Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Bruce Lee:

“Do not pray for an easy life; pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.”

Bible:

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Jesus left us a promise, that we can have HIS peace.

LIFE and TIME

I’m repeating Bruce’s time quote:

“If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of.”

He also said:

“It’s not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential.”

Bible:

“Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil” Ephesians 5:16

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” – Romans 13:12

Bruce Lee

“The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.”

Bible:

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps” – Proverbs 16:9

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – John 10:10

… that believing ye might have life through his name.” – John 20:31

DEFEAT and VICTORY

Bruce Lee:

“Defeat is a state of mind; no one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as a reality.”

Bible:

Deuteronomy 20:4: “For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

Psalm 44:7: “But you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame.”

1 Corinthians 15:57: “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

1 John 5:4: “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.”

What Bruce Lee Missed

While teaching self-discipline, so far as I know, Bruce Lee did not teach fasting. He didn’t believe in methodology either. He said, talking about levels of attainment, “Belts are only good for holding up your pants.”

He believed we should obey health principles without being bound by them. Good advice, and true up to a point. But fasting is a powerful journey toward attaining self-mastery that I suspect he missed.

Consider Philippians 3:19 “Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.” Proverbs 23:2 “Put a knife to your throat if you are given to appetite!” Jesus said (Mat 6:16-18) when you fast, not if you fast.

If you are a slave to your passions you don’t have self-discipline. Some may hate this advice, but fasting is a disciplined practice that strengthens both body and mind. By willingly embracing hunger and resisting instant gratification, you cultivate resilience, focus, and unwavering willpower. Each moment of restraint becomes a victory over impulses, proving that you—not your cravings—are in control.

As you fast, you sharpen mental clarity, deepen self-awareness, and unlock a profound sense of inner strength. This ancient practice is more than abstaining from food; it’s a transformative act of discipline that teaches you to conquer desires, endure discomfort, and emerge stronger.

Through balanced and sensible fasting (there is no need to be extreme, or Pharisaical as in Luke 18:11-12), you don’t just master your appetite—you master yourself.

There are other principles on this website that Bruce missed, but mostly he was very astute.

Summary

In summary, I don’t idolize Bruce Lee, but I do give credit where it’s due.

In a number of ways he was well above average, as well as amazing, and in fact, superhuman. (If you don’t think so, you try doing two finger push-ups, as verified in the video below.)

I’m sorry he died so young.

I think the following YouTube short is surprisingly poignant!

Pillars, 7 x || || = 77

Pillars have always inspired me.

Two of my favourite verses in the Bible both mention pillars.

Revelation 3:12 concludes the message to ‘the angel of of the church in Philadelphia,’ and talks about being made a pillar in the temple of God.

1 Sam 2:8 talks about God setting the poor out of the dust among the pillars of the earth.

Here are both verses in the KJV translation:

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.

In addition, using my Bible Search software (the MySword phone app), in the KJV it gives me 77 verses for the word pillars (in the plural), and if you don’t think that’s interesting, read my Bible proof page about the number 7.

The main purpose for pillars is to support a structure, and what immediately comes to my mind when I think about pillars is both strength and beauty.

It’s interesting to note that often the most visible part of a structure that has remained in several ancient buildings are the pillars.

2Ki 23:3 Perhaps it is was on purpose that Josiah stood by a pillar when he made a covenant before the Lord.

And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

Twelve pillars also represented the twelve tribes of Israel in Exo 24:4.

Moses then wrote down everything the Lord had said.
He got up early the next morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars representing the twelve tribes of Israel.

In Exodus 13:21-22 God became a pillar of cloud by day, and a pillar of fire by night for His people.

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

It matches Song 3:6 Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant?

In this imagery, Solomon depicts Christ, the God of the Old Testament, as the King. (I explain more here.)

In the modern era, the church should be the pillar and support of truth. Unfortunately, most modern churches tend to be anything but that. See 1 Tim 3:15… but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one should act in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.

In Genesis 31:52 we see that a pillar can be a witness, and that adds a little substance to my speculation about the ‘two witnesses’ (the two candlesticks? /the two pillars? /and the last two churches?) of Revelation here.

If I’m wrong about that, no worries.

Pillars are still significant in the Bible.

Without the main pillars, columns or posts supporting them, most traditional houses will fall. Read Judges chapter 16 for the story of Samson, and how he pushed over the two main pillars supporting the pagan temple of Dagon, the god of the Philistines.

Jdg 16:26 Samson said to the servant who held his hand, “Put me where I can feel the pillars that support the temple, so that I may lean against them.”

Samson, although blind (which reminds me of the blind Laodiceans), was still able to do an incredible work for God.

Christians are supposed to be God’s temple, not a pagan one.

2 Cor 6:16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will live with them
    and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”

And Christ says within the message to Philadelphia , The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God (Rev 3:12).

One last verse:

Proverbs 9:1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her SEVEN pillars.

This is a little quirky, but 7 x || || = 77

The 77 verses that contain the word ‘pillars’ in the KJV Bible really do seem to back this up!

AI Job Apocalypse & Complete Chaos: How Exponential Change Will Reshape the World by 2028

Turning your world Upside Down

Here’s what the next three years will bring—and how to prepare for the storm

The world is on the brink of a transformation so profound it feels almost apocalyptic. AI is advancing at an exponential pace, threatening to wipe out millions of jobs by 2028. Chaotic weather patterns, fueled by climate change, are destabilizing nations and creating widespread suffering. For those who look to the Bible, the words of Daniel 12:4 resonate deeply:
“But you, O Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro and knowledge shall be increased.”
Knowledge is indeed increasing at an unprecedented rate, and with it comes disruption, chaos, and uncertainty.

The Exponential Pace of Change: A Ticking Time Bomb

The pace of technological advancement isn’t just fast—it’s exponential. What used to take decades now happens in years, and what took years now happens in months. By 2028, the world will be unrecognizable. Here’s what to expect:

1. Currently: AI tools like ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and MidJourney are becoming ubiquitous, automating 40% of administrative and creative tasks in fields such as law, finance, and customer service. Self-driving trucks will soon dominate the roads, wiping out 3 million trucking jobs in the U.S. alone. This shift will be felt across industries, but some sectors will be hit harder than others.

2. 2026: AI begins replacing mid-level management roles, with algorithms making decisions faster and more efficiently than humans. The global job market sees its first wave of mass unemployment, with 75 million jobs lost worldwide.

3. 2027: AI achieves near-human-level reasoning, disrupting industries like law, medicine, and engineering. Even high-skilled workers are at risk, and the gig economy becomes the only lifeline for millions. According to the World Economic Forum’s *Future of Jobs Report 2023*, 23% of jobs are expected to change by 2027, with 83 million jobs eliminated and 69 million new roles created.

4. 2028: AI systems begin to outperform humans in virtually every field, leading to widespread economic and social upheaval. Governments struggle to respond, and inequality reaches unprecedented levels. The middle class is gone, leaving only a few ultra rich, and the rest struggle to survive.

The exponential growth of AI isn’t just changing the job market—it’s reshaping society itself.

And as knowledge increases, so does the chaos.

Chaotic Weather and End Times Prophecies

While AI disrupts the job market, the physical world is also in turmoil. Chaotic weather patterns, fueled by climate change, are becoming more frequent and severe. Hurricanes, wildfires, and floods are devastating communities, displacing millions, and straining global resources. For those who study biblical prophecy, these events echo the words of Matthew 24, where Jesus describes the signs of the end times:

“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” (Matthew 24:7)

“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12)

“For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.” (Matthew 24:21)

The convergence of technological disruption and environmental chaos feels like a fulfillment of these prophecies. As AI reshapes the economy, extreme weather events are destabilizing nations, leading to food shortages, mass migrations, and social unrest.

The world is entering a period of unprecedented uncertainty.

One of the leading figures of the AI boom, and CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, says “AI will probably lead to the end of the world, but in the meantime there’ll be great companies!”

Industries on the Brink of Collapse

The dual forces of AI and environmental chaos are pushing entire industries to the brink. Here’s what’s at risk:

1. Agriculture: Chaotic weather is disrupting crop yields, while AI-driven automation is replacing farmworkers. Real food production, as opposed to GMO food production, is being threatened.

2. Energy: Extreme weather is straining power grids. Solar and wind energy production is unable to cope, and the switch away from coal by certain governments is being exposed as a monumental blunder. At the same time AI is optimizing energy production, leaving human workers redundant.

3. Construction: Extreme weather is destroying infrastructure, while AI-powered robots are taking over construction jobs.

4. Healthcare: AI is revolutionizing diagnostics and treatment, but increasing unwellness, wars, and other disasters are overwhelming healthcare systems. The American people are the sickest in the world, due to the deception of the food and drug companies. Rev 18:23 has never been more applicable.

5. Art & Publishing: It now takes just a few seconds to produce art like this…

6. Societal Chaos: Misinformation, Deepfakes, and Ethical Concerns

AI’s impact extends beyond the economy—it’s also reshaping society in ways that could lead to chaos. One of the most pressing concerns is the rise of AI-generated misinformation and deepfakes. In 2023, deepfake cases increased by 900% compared to 2022 (DeepTrace Labs, 2023), raising fears about their use in elections, fraud, and propaganda.

Ethical concerns are also mounting. A 2023 Stanford study found that 65% of AI systems exhibit significant bias in hiring and lending decisions, highlighting the need for greater transparency and accountability. Governments are struggling to keep pace with AI advancements, with the EU’s AI Act aiming to regulate high-risk AI applications.

How to Survive the Coming Chaos

The convergence of AI disruption and environmental chaos demands urgent action. Here’s how to prepare:

1. Reskill for the AI Economy: Learn AI-related skills like data analysis, coding, or digital marketing. Platforms like Coursera and Udemy offer affordable courses.

2. Prepare for Climate Instability: Stockpile essentials, learn survival skills, and consider relocating to areas less vulnerable to extreme weather.

3. Strengthen Community Ties: In times of crisis, community is your greatest asset. Build relationships with neighbors and local organizations.

4. Stay Spiritually Grounded: Now is the time to deepen your faith and seek guidance through prayer, and studying deeper into Scripture. The Bible is not myth or fiction. In case you haven’t read my Proof of the Bible page, or have doubts about God, the following video should help you understand that Bible stories are real!

A World on the Edge

The next three years will be a period of exponential change and unprecedented disruption. AI will reshape the job market, chaotic weather will destabilize nations, and the signs of the end times will become harder to ignore. As Daniel 12:4 foretold, knowledge is increasing, and with it comes both opportunity and peril. The question is: Are you ready?

Conclusion

By 2028, the world will be a very different place. AI-driven job loss, chaotic weather, and the fulfillment of biblical prophecies will converge to create a future that is both exhilarating and terrifying. The time to prepare is now. Reskill, adapt, and strengthen your community—because the future is coming, and it’s coming fast.

What do you think about the rapid changes we’re seeing? Are you prepared for what’s coming?

7 Radical Beliefs to Change Your Life

The following list may make you pause for a moment, before you brush some of these off and continue on with your life. How many of these beliefs are you willing to embrace to the point that they transform your personal world?

1) Evolution is not true, and God is real. (Words in red are page links for each subject.) Romans 1:20

2) There is abundant proof that the Bible is true. John 17:17

3) The devil is a liar, and he is the prince of the power of the air. The devil controls nearly all of our education and media – therefore much of everything you believe is a lie. See John 8: 44 & Eph 2:2

4) Jesus will return WITHIN 10 years and most probably within 5

5) Click here to discover the purpose for YOUR life is FAR FAR greater than you have ever imagined.

6) Christ has extended his authority so that true Christians are able to command miracles and healings in his name, even down to THIS time NOW! True disciples have all things available to them. John 16:23-24

7) You can fill your life with light to the degree you have power and authority over nations! John 15:14-15, Rev 2:26. I believe you can apply Deut 28:1 and Deut 28:13 personally, which says if you follow God’s instructions, God has promised to make you the head, and not the tail.

Those are just some of the subjects I’ve explored in the links above. Even for Christians, some these beliefs may be hard to fully accept and make part of your life experience.

These concepts may challenge you. If that’s the case, Psalm 34:8 and 1 Thes 5:21 invite you to go ahead and see if Bible promises will actually work for you or not. Don’t be too quick to cast any of this aside, or judge results too hastily by thinking or saying God’s words are not 100% reliable. See Prov 18:13, Prov 19:2, Prov 29:20 and Eccl 5:2.

This is especially true for Christians… Please give these topics some thought, and don’t be like the foolish virgin’s in Matthew 25:1-13 who were not ready for the wedding, and were unnecessarily shut out.

(Many of the slumbering Christians in Matthew 25:7 will be those who wake up and proclaim the two witnesses message that’s explained here!)

AND HOW IT RELATES TO THE COMING OF THE DAY OF THE LORD

Several years before secret weather warfare (or perhaps global warming – choose your own explanation) gave us daily weather disasters, I was studying the Bible timeline leading to Christ’s return, and then I prayed about a LIGHT shower of rain that happened to fall, and said it represented the FLOOD of Bible insight I was getting. This (showing my original photo’s of the next days newspaper) was the result…

There are a lot more details about this incident, but I’ve removed them because (a) my prayer is not provable, plus (b) it’s not good to draw attention to myself… (although I do have some extra details in the article following this here.)
I know what I know, and that’s all that really matters.

Here’s what I DO want you to get:

Understanding 1000-year ‘Days’

As I said I was studying the Bible timeline, but especially the timing for Jesus’ return.

Matt 24:37 says the timing will be like the days of Noah when the flood came and took them all away. Matt 24:39

But elsewhere we are given additional clues about the timing. Several places in the Bible talk about 1000 year days. For example Psa 90:4 and 2 Peter 3:8 “But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

The Bible says “do not overlook this,” but most people do overlook it. Why not overlook it? Because it is key to knowing when Christ will return! The next few verses then continue to talk about the day of the Lord coming, and it talks about waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Remember, in Gen 2:17, God told Adam that IN THE DAY he ate from the forbidden tree he would die. But, Adam lived for 930 years! Did you ever wonder why Adam didn’t die the same day he ate from the tree? The answer is that God’s days can be a thousand years long.

The Bible indicates that God has allotted mankind SIX one thousand year “DAYS” before a ONE thousand year Sabbath rest ‘DAY’ or millennium to follow (Rev 20:2 or 20:7), starting from the time of Adam and Eve’s sin, up to the time Jesus will return. This follows the principle God gave in Exo 20:11.

Six thousand years in the Bible timeline calculates to a Second Coming date that puts us well and truly into the heart of the Daniel 12:4 “time of the end” right now.

(The Sabbath principle is not nullified by the New Covenant, because the Sabbath was created well before even the Old Exo 24:7 Covenant was made, and therefore it is separate, as part of creation, and stands apart from any covenants that were made.)

Jesus was crucified around TWO “one thousand year days” ago. The exact date is controversial. Calculations range within an 8 year window, between 27 AD to 35 AD.

(I’m well aware of the crucifixion date controversies, and also claims that hundreds of years have been added to or subtracted from our history timeline, but independent Chinese calendar records and also world events don’t back that up. At this stage I still believe it’s been about 2,000 years.)

Additional Confirmation

Before going deeper, let’s compare these two parables of Jesus.

First Matthew 20:1,2 The parable of the labourers in the vineyard:

For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

Second, the parable of the good Samaritan:

Luke 10:30-35

And on the morrow when he departed, he (the good Samaritan who represents Jesus) took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Combining both parables, with 2 Peter 3:8 (one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day), we have

  • one day = 1,000 years
  • one penny = one day
  • the good Samaritan gave two pennies, because he expects to RETURN about TWO days after he left.

Hence, Jesus returns after 2 one thousand year long ‘days,’ or near to 2,000 years after he left… I do understand these are merely parables, however…This is not presented as any sort of proof – It’s an interesting observation!

The next article covers some of my personal history, plus the AI calculations about my flood miracle. I go back to the main prophecy subject after this section.
